Can I have a slice? (Android 9 Pie)

Much anticipated, another upgrade to Google’s trademark operating system, Android. Google released the new edition called Android 9 Pie, earlier this month.

A quick overview of some useful features that have been incorporated:

Multiple Bluetooth audio devices – Yes, you can now connect more than one Bluetooth stereo device! For example, multiple headphones/earphones or even car entertainment systems!

Rotate button on navigation – So this one seems a bit more useful, tired of always swiping down to engage the rotate mode? It will now include it in the navigation it will display when Pie thinks you need it.

Auto off on hotspot – So this feature is guaranteed to save you some battery life. When Pie registered that there are no more devices using its hotspot tether, then it automatically switches off the hotspot, seems great? Only time will tell if this will be a good feature or may get a bit annoying.

The use of Ai for battery savings – They have incorporated Ai and machine learning technology to automatically figure out which apps you are using the most, or least and tailor the battery consumption for each app, saving you more battery!

There are many more features which we will look at in the future!

Availability

Android 9 will be made available to users who own Pixel phones first.

“Devices that participated in the Beta programme from Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, HMD Global, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Essential, as well as all qualifying Android One devices, will receive this update by the end of this fall,” said Google.
